Hi, my name is Courtenay Gilbert. I am a Fine Art, Portrait Photographer, Photoshop Specialist and Cusotm Printer. I was formally trained in photography in New York City where I attended the School of Visual Arts, graduating with a BFA. I studied under the direction of master black and white pinter, Bob Brooks, and fashion photographer Frances McLaughlin-Gill.
I started taking pictures at the age of 10. In 1977 my 5th grade teacher, Mr. Campbell, taught us how to take photos, develop black & white film, and enlarge the images in the darkroom. Photography became my passion and I haven’t put my camera down since.
After college I worked in NYC as a fashion photographer, make-up artist and stylist.
I moved to South Florida in the 1990’s where I started working as a Fine Art printer and Portrait Photographer.
My fashion and editorial photography has been published in many publications in the United States as well as Japan. My Fine Art Photography has been exhibited and sold through out the country.
My other specialty is doing photographic post-production using Photoshop. I work on other photographers images, take ordinary images and make them extraordinary images. Many of the images I have worked on have won awards, been exhibited and sold around the world.
I consider myself very lucky to able to support myself, doing what I love, working in the field of photography for all these years.
